Live at Hovis - Driver logistics video

Lucas Media has been working with Hovis to create a number of videos centred around their people.

In this video we follow Chloe on her early morning delivery around the North West of the UK. We ask Chloe all about her experience of working at Hovis from initially being accepted onto the apprenticeship program to some of her favourite parts of the job.

What attracted you to Hovis?

What attracted me to Hovis was my Dad he’s a primary driver here at the Golborne depot. He told me about an apprenticeship coming up, so I applied online through the Hovis network and here I am working for the company today. There was also another big attraction and that was through the scheme I took my HGV licence and that gave me the ability to secure a driving job that I could have for the rest of my life.

What surprised you most about the job?

What surprised me the most is how friendly and how well I fitted in at the company I'm never rushed I can go at my own pace I can take my time. The staff are really supportive in every aspect and in every department.

What are your aspirations for the future?

I would like to pass my class one licence and hopefully becoming a team leader or a frontline manager in the future. There are many opportunities here at Hovis and feel that my career could develop in a number of areas. The senior management are very supportive and offer help and guidance.

What is the best part of the job?

The best part of the job is going out on your own, meeting customers, building your own customer base, whilst out on the road, day in day out. Because I've been on the round for a long time now, is not seen as a job and I quite see myself as a people person. I always present them with a smile.

What skills have you gain?

Skills I’ve gained was driving the HGV and also communication skills because I'm dealing with customers on a daily basis I need to keep my communication skills on point. The interaction with the customers is very, very important if you haven’t got that communication, then you're not going to be able to get the job done. Also building my confidence because I didn't have that much confidence.

We had a great time working with Hovis on this video to promote their award-winning logistics department as we followed one of their current drivers, Chloe, as she took us round her daily route. It was a very early start meeting Chloe at the Golborne depot at 2am in the morning!

The logistics team is a very efficient arm of the Hovis business which spans many depots around the country. They deliver without fail every day to keep their customers happy with a number of different bakery products that you see in supermarkets and shops.

The main video was planned and edited so that we could use separate parts as standalone pieces of content across on LinkedIn.

Adam Bassant, General Manager of Hovis logistics was really pleased with the way the video has been produced and mentions "It's great to see our young people develop and grow..."

Whilst filming we saw first hand the professionalism and dedication to the job as Chloe delivered to some of the biggest supermarket brands in the UK. The interaction and warmth she brings to every customer is second to none. It was a real privilege to watch Chloe in action she is a real credit to Hovis and hope she makes her way through to gaining a Class one licence in the future.
